LOL I think it's more of a whisky on the rocks kind of song. Anyway I'm kinda obsessed with this album at the moment...for some reason it has some kind of alluring pull that their later more well known polished albums don't have...or maybe I just love everything they do and I'm still in honeymoon period with this album as it only came in the post a couple of days ago!

And yeah I really should upload at least the pics I got when I saw them live recently...Of course I wrote a blurb too but my goldfish memory has forgotten what it is about and I doubt I can find it again in my mass of papers...it was probably scribbled all over the festival program which in all likelihood I've already thrown out...awww sorry fans!

Wow when I first posted this- my FAVOURITE song ON REPEAT over and over and over all through 2010, the album HIGH VIOLET was somewhat new so there were no decent audiovisuals available...so here I post it again...in HD!!!

so okay all their songs are awesome but tonight I liked this lesser known track possibly because I like the title hehe... Can't believe they're coming to Oz AGAIN! coool, happy days :)

Hehe still deeply and happily ensconced in this album :D

Conversation 16 has to be the stand out song on the High Violet album for me...by a nose...from other favourites notably Sorrow, Terrible Love and of course Runaway.

Anycase enjoy....the picture's pretty bad but the sound on this clip is fantastic! Best Cannibal Love song ever, lol.

THE NATIONAL/Runaway

Finally got my stereo setup and all my cds transported and have been enjoying THE NATIONAL's latest album High Violet....this song in particular makes particularly good musing/time out music cos it's so mellow...
So carpet kinda sucks acoustics wise compared to the luxurious sound afforded by floorboards (now completely muted sound) but hey, glad to have my music!

I wish they'd come back to Oz soon. Seeing them live at Angel Place is still one of my most special musical moments ever -definitely the best indoor gig I have ever witnessed in this country!!!!

I guess I'll have to catch them when I'm in the Northern Hemisphere...here's hoping!

THE NATIONAL/About Today

From one of my all time favourite bands THE NATIONAL...'About Today' has got to be one of the most melancholy songs that has ever existed, yet it is so very beautiful that I don't mind even if it inevitably makes me recall sad memories from the past.

Matt Berninger has got to be my favourite (current)vocalist ever...what an awesome Baritone!

I had the good fortune of seeing him perform at Angel Place earlier this year...and what a weird venue, but the acoustics were...the best!

Can't wait for them to come back...Best indoor concert I've ever been to!

Beggars Banquet

Just a quickie cos REALLY I should be studying ;)

I first knew this label as the GO-BETWEENS probably Biggest & Youngest Fan LOL.

In any case since then they popped up noticeably again when I discovered I love THE NATIONAL.

Been listening to other artists they have released and I must say they still have consistently GREAT stuff!!!

Oh-O: She's in Love!

So the last time I heard something and it was instant LOVE and the entire album was THAT GOOD was THE NATIONAL...I've been sampling the new album Night falls over Kortedala from Jens Lekman after reading about him on Oz's blog(this guy has good taste in music!), and IT IS A REALLY REALLY EXCELLENT ALBUM! damn I think I need to go out and get it now...(all the money I have and don't yet have goes into...CDS *sigh* what's new? - yeah I am one of those sad sad people who will take from their weekly food budget rather than not have that CD^^

Anyway the guy sounds a bit like a more contemporary form of Morrissey...he is definitely a crooner...check out the beautiful song "Your arms around me" (Live in Bloomington) below...haha I love how he says "avocado"!!!

The National:Val Jester

Everytime I hear this song on "Alligator" with its beautiful, melancholy strings, I can't help but think of my ex when it says...

"You should have looked after her...better. You should have looked after her more."

Sad reality though...that wouldn't have been enough anyway...

Really gorgeous cinematography by the way...the 21 yr old who made this vid has talent!

The National would be my favourite band discovery of 2007...this is one of their finest songs with clip containing edited visuals from Godard's Masculine-Feminine, highly engaging...

BTW, how Gorgeous is Matt Berninger's baritone? Along with Thom Yorke, Robert Forster, Grant McLennan and Morrissey...with voices like these I'm instantly transformed into the snake enchanted by the Indian piper...yes Master, anything you please ;)
