KEANE

I spent much of today listening to UNDER THE IRON SEA...nice album. I'm not sure why I left it to collect dust for so long.

Here were my two favourites for today

A BAD DREAM (actually most of my dreams lately have been so good I didn't want to get up, lol!)

THE FROG PRINCE (no, no Frogs or Princes either. Just random, very random, STUFF.)

REENA BHARDWAJ/Voice of An Angel

She has no albums of her own yet, but you can hear her on Nitin Sawhney and Ministry of Sound Albums and on Indian films - I think she was discovered by Composer A.R Rahman, whose music most people have probably heard in the movie Slumdog Millionaire.

This song, MAUSAM is most easily accessible to the western ear...(very Bollywood sound.) And not to sound *dramatic* but this is the SOUNDTRACK to the rest of my life, starting today! :-D

And the one suited to those of us who really love and appreciate our world music :)

Reena has has her own site where you can have a good listen to her portfolio. *love* :D

EMILIANA TORRINI/ Sunny Road & Heartstopper

Okay, so I'm a sucker for the Icelandic...

but you gotta admit this is a pretty cool animation...and her video clips are much more interesting than the average...

And this song is not too bad...but at the end of the day I am just a sucker for the voice...she actually reminds me of an Icelandic Sarah Blasko...lol.

Manu and the "Hang"

LOL, almost sounds like a good name for a band!

Actually his name is Manu Delago and he plays the "Hang"...drum(?).

In any case the sound is quite mesmerizing-sample his work here. I love creative music :)

BLONDE REDHEAD/Top Ranking

I've always been drawn to otherworldly and ethereal voices...maybe cos they are such a stark contrast to our impermanence and mortality.

The official video could have been so much better though....the distinctive model is Miranda July, who you might remember from Me and You and Everyone We Know.

RHCP/Under the Bridge

Okay, every now and again I gotta curb my specific tastes and post a mainstream tune everyone knows...this was my favourite one from pub karaoke last night- if anything, the sedated sounds were a refreshing and much welcome change from some of that really intolerable super sugar-pumped happy pappy bopster crap!
